Spectrum established after-school science clubs targeted at girls of color in SFUSD and Northern San Mateo County schools.

Spectrum has built a mentoring community of SFSU women of color with interests in biomedical research.

Spectrum Faculty Video Biographies

In 2009-2010 we developed 6 five-minute biographies of the 6 Spectrum Biology Faculty, to inspire other women of color in their pursuit of a scientific career. These videos were shown to girls who attended SFSU field trips and were also used at clubs.

Spectrum: Advice on Careers in Biomedical Science for Girls and Women of Color

Our most recent video project, a documentary featuring thirteen 5-minute, stand-alone segments, showcasing twelve Spectrum scientific trainees as they give advice to girls about pursuing a science career and share personal stories about how they’ve navigated their careers as women of color.
