About SEPAL
SEPAL: The Science Education Partnership & Assessment Laboratory was founded in 2004 by Professor Kimberly Tanner to integrate science education efforts into the Department of Biology and College of Science and Engineering at San Francisco State University.
Since then, SEPAL has grown into a vibrant community of scientists. SEPAL has an active Discipline-Based Education Research (DBER) laboratory investigating how science is learned, offers both undergraduate and graduate courses to support innovative biology teaching, provides multiple opportunities for SFSU students and scientists to collaborate with K-12 & college educators, and houses a Resource Center providing hands-on-learning materials for science instructors. SEPAL Alumni go on to pursue a variety of careers in science education and more.
