SEPAL alumnus, Lauren Fletcher was accepted in the STAR Research Program

Undergraduate Physiology major and SEPAL alumnus, Lauren Fletcher was accepted in the STAR Research Program and is a summer intern at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory conducting research on chemical mixture methodology.  Congratulations Lauren!

Congratulations SFSU Biology alumnus Matilde Miranda being selected as a 2015 Ford Foundation Fellowship recipient!

SFSU Biology alumnus Matilde Miranda received a Ford Foundation Fellowship during her first year as a doctoral student in biology at UCLA. She is an alumnus of the Burrus Lab & of SEPAL.

SEPAL featured in Faculty Focus publication’s “Best of” List

Drs. Kimberly Tanner and SEPAL Postdoc Shannon Seidel’s article “What if Students Revolt?  Considering Student Resistance:  Origins, Options and Opportunities for Investigation” (published in Cell Biology Education—Life Sciences Education) made the Faculty Focus publication’s “Best of” list that celebrates teaching and learning.

Congratulations to SEPAL People Chris & Matilde!

ABRCMSpicSEPAL would like to congratulate SEPAL People Chris Pineda and Matilde Miranda for winning the 2013 Student Presentation Award at the annual ABRCMS (Annual Biomedical Conference for Minority Student) conference in Nashville, TN.

Both Chris and Matilde currently do undergraduate research in the laboratory of Dr. Laura Burrus at San Francisco State University.

Congratulations to SEPAL Alum Thomas Jenkinson

Thomas Jenkinson, SEPAL NSF SK-12 Fellow from 2008 – 2010 & Master’s Student with Dennis Desjardin, was recently awarded the Dow Sustainability Fellowship.  This is an academic fellowship in conjunction with the Dow Company and the University of Michigan which supports Doctoral Students over two academic years.

Jainee Lewis,  Spectrum science partner and SFSU Biology graduate student receives SFSU Community Service Learning Award for her work as a pioneering leader and mentor in SEPAL’s NIH-funded Spectrum Program designed to encourage girls and women of color to seek careers in biomedical science. Congratulations Jainee!
