Get Involved: SFSU Students

Biol/Sci/Geol/Metr/Ocn 652 Science Partners in K-12 Education (SPIKE) is a 4 unit upper division class.

Potential Benefits:

  • Allows you to translate the big ideas you have learned in previous science classes into science lessons for younger students!
  • Counts as early field experience for students who want to go into teaching
  • May count towards your major (check with your advisor)
  • Is community service for students heading towards medical or graduate school

 Expectations:

  • Attend class at SFSU 2 hours per week, Wednesday 3:00-5:00 pm
  • Co-plan and co-teach six science lessons together during the Fall Semester in K-8 classrooms.
  • Attend a 2 hour Partnership Orientation at SFSU
  • Attend a 2 hour Share-out Celebration and Poster Session

How do I enroll in this course?

To enroll in this course, you must first fill out the application. You will be notified about the outcome of your application (enrolled, waitlisted, not enrolled) by August 1st. Students who are accepted but have not registered by the end of the Open Registration period will be given an add code.
